Debra Band, PT
Debra is one of the original owners of Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy.  She graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.  She is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.  Debra splits her time treating patients at OSPT in Boston and at AST in Wellesley.

 

Akira Do, PT, MS, CSCS
Akira graduated from Ithaca College with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to working for Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy he worked in Rochester New York. Akira is a licensed physical therapist in both the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and State of New York along with being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and National Strength and Conditioning Association. Akira has also provided rehabilitation and strength and conditioning consultation to professional MMA fighters and their respective camps.

 

Kanella Karatasakis, PT, MS
Kanella graduated from Northeastern University with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy and has been working for Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy since graduation.  She is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She treats patients at OSPT in Boston and at AST in Wellesley.

 

Scott Kuhn, PT, MS, ATC
Scott graduated with both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he began his career as an orthopedic based physical therapist while working with many collegiate and professional athletes. He is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a physical therapist and athletic trainer. Scott recently moved to Boston and is working at Advanced Sports Therapy in Wellesley. Scott is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

 

Lucas Legere, PT, MS
Lucas graduated from Northeastern University with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy and has been working for Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy since graduation.  He is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He treats patients at OSPT in Boston and also utilizes the Graston Technique® when treating soft tissue injuries.

 

Kimberly Mace, PT, MS, CSCS
Kim has worked for Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy for three years.  She graduated from Northeastern University with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy.  Kim is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She is a clinical instructor for both Northeastern and Bay State College physical therapy students.  Kim has brought the Graston Technique® to OSPT in Boston and at Tufts University, where she presently treats patients.  Kim participates in the Tufts University President Marathon Challenge as a marathon runner and physical therapist for the team of 200 marathon runners training for the Boston Marathon.

 

Shirley Malone
Shirley has been the Office Manager and Billing Coordinator at OSPT and AST since 1985.  She is responsible for many aspects of patient registration, insurance information and billing procedures.

 

Nick Mitropoulos, PT, ATC
Along with Debra, Nick started Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy in 1983.  Nick graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.  He is a licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He has been an Athletic Trainer at Tufts University for 23 years, currently covering the Men’s Soccer, Ice Hockey and Baseball teams.   Nick is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA).  Nick splits his treatment time between OSPT in Boston and at Tufts University.  Nick is also Director of Sports Medicine for the Tufts University President Marathon Challenge, a team of 200 marathon runners training for the Boston Marathon to support health education programming at Tufts University.

 

Matt Penney, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC
Matt is co-owner of Advanced Sports Therapy with Nick and Debra.  He is board certified in the field of Sports Physical Therapy and is a licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tufts University and a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University.  He recently graduated from Northeastern University with a Doctor in Physical Therapy Degree.

Matt coordinates the clinical and cooperative education at AST and OSPT.  He teaches musculoskeletal/ orthopedic physical therapy at Bay State College, Tufts University and Northeastern University.  He also works as an athletic trainer at Tufts University, covering Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country and Track and Field.  Matt is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA), American Association of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).  Matt treats patients at AST in Wellesley, while also providing physical therapy services at Wellesley College Health Services.
